What is analogue switch-off (ASO)?

The analogue switch-off (ASO) is a process of switching off free-to-air (FTA) analogue terrestrial television broadcasting service.

What is digital switchover?

The Digital Switchover refers to the way your programmes are broadcasted and received from your homes. All Free-To-Air (FTA) channels will now broadcast their content in full digital quality after the switchover from analogue signals.

myFreeview Digital Broadcast

myFreeview is the brand name given for Malaysia's free digital TV services, which offers Malaysia's most popular TV and radio channels free of charge, with no subscription fees.

What is Digital Video Broadcasting – Second Generation Terrestrial (DVB-T2)?

DVB-T2 stands for Digital Video Broadcasting – Second Generation Terrestrial. DVB-T2 is adopted as the industry standard in key European and Asian countries. It offers higher efficiency, robustness and flexibility, enabling efficient use of valuable terrestrial spectrum for the delivery of audio, video and data services to fixed, portable and mobile devices.

What is digital terrestrial television (DTT)?

Digital terrestrial television (DTTV or DTT) is a technology for broadcast television in which land-based (terrestrial) television stations broadcast television content by radio waves to televisions in consumers' residences in a digital format.

Am I covered by DTT?

Kindly check the latest DTT transmission coverage here. If your area is not listed, you are covered by DTH transmission. Disclaimer:

1. Prediction is based with reception antenna at 10 meter above ground level and map data.
2. Predicted blind spot area may able to receive the DTT signal at the higher level above 10 meter.

How do I get DTT services?

DTH
What is Direct-to-Home (DTH)?

Direct-to-Home (DTH) service is a method of receiving digital TV by means of signals transmitted from direct-broadcast satellites. In the event area not covered by DTT, DTH is an alternative method to receive myFreeview Digital Broadcast.

First, check your coverage here. If you are residing in DTH areas, find out the type of equipment you need. You may purchase certified DTH decoder complete with outdoor unit from our Authorised Dealers

Is the free decoder transferable?

The B40 Free Decoder Set is not transferable, but you may use it at a different address and within myFreeview transmission coverage area. However, as the recipient, you are responsible for the Free Decoder Set.

Can I change the installation address?

Recipients are not allowed to change the installation address as it is registered in the system.  If required, recipients are advised to contact Call Centre for the new arrangements.  MYTV is not responsible for any additional fees charged by the registered installer for any changes made by the recipient.

DTH activation

Activation will be done by installer upon installation of decoders set (with ODU) for recipients at the registered address for the 1st installation. In case of change of address after 1st installation, recipients will need to contact Customer Centre before any works take place. Any subsequence amendments/alteration/activation to the new place will be at recipients’ cost. MYTV will not responsible for any damages to the outdoor sets.

myFreeview Digital Broadcast

myFreeview is the brand name given for Malaysia's free digital TV services, which offers Malaysia's most popular TV and radio channels free of charge, with no subscription fees.

How do I get access?

myFreeview channels can be received using new and old TV with DVB-T2 decoders, or integrated digital television (IDTV) connected directly to a UHF aerial. To determine if your TV is digital ready, kindly refer to the TV’s model specification from the user manual or the brand website.

Where can I purchase the suitable receivers?

You can purchase and install the necessary equipment from our Authorised Dealers . Please ensure that the receivers are certified by SIRIM, has a DTT/DTTV label or for TV sets, it must be equipped with a digital (DVB-T2) tuner.

myFreeview Digital Broadcast is free and requires no subscription fees.

Installation
How do I switch to myFreeview?

First, find out the type of equipment you need by checking if your TV is digital-ready. A digital-ready TV has a built-in DVB-T2 digital tuner.

If your TV is digital-ready, you will need a UHF aerial. If your TV is not digital-ready, you will need a UHF aerial and a DVB-T2 digital set-top-box.

You may purchase certified DVB-T2 decoders or IDTV from our Authorised Dealers .

How do I install?

Simple self-installation guide can be found at installation guide (if you already have UHF aerial). If you need technical assistance, you may call MYTV Customer Careline 1800-18-1088 or contact your nearest Installer.

Will there be charges for the DTT decoder installation?

MYTV decoder users are advised to do their own installation by referring to the Installation Guide included in the decoder sets. However, should any assistance is required, please contact MYTV Customer Careline 1800-18-1088 or MYTV Registered Installer.

Terms & Conditions:
Installation charges are as stated;

  • - Outdoor aerial installation service will be charged a standard amount of RM180.00.
  • - Charges include aerial set only.
  • - For maintenance service, each visit will be charged a minimum of RM50.00.
  • - Guarantee / Warranty for installation by third party contractors are only valid for seven (7) days. Customers are advised to contact the contractor directly for any technical problems within the warranty period.
  • - The usage of technical and maintenance services are at your own risk and MYTV is not responsible for any damage or loss that may occur.


NOTE: Technical services for installation and maintenance are provided by third party contractors registered with MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd.

Can I only use a universal remote for both the decoder and my TV set. How do I do that?

MYTV decoders are only compatible with MYTV remote controls.

How do I decide on a suitable aerial?

An outdoor UHF aerial is the best choice. However, indoor UHF aerials are also usable as long as you are residing within 25km of a transmission station. You are advised to test out your existing indoor or outdoor aerials beforehand. Please refer to the Coverage Map to identify the nearest transmitter in the area.

What if I live in a multi-storey building?

You can directly connect digital TV or DVB-T2 decoder to the MATV (Master Antenna TV System) system if your building is equipped with a centralized digital aerial system. Please contact your home management office to confirm the suitability of the existing MATV system.

What if I live in a landed property?

An indoor aerial is not required if you have an existing UHF rooftop aerial to receive myFreeview Digital Broadcast. You can connect your digital-ready TV or decoder directly to the outdoor UHF aerial. For technical assistance, you could seek the advice of our Registered Installers .

What if I own or manage a commercial building?

You may contact and seek advice from our Registered Installers (*link to DTT Installers) on the reception via MATV system to ensure the smoothness of myFreeview digital broadcast signal reception.

How to tune in to the proper frequency?

We recommend that you tune it automatically via the DVB-T2 or IDTV to receive myFreeview channels. You may also tune it manually by referring to the list of frequency here.

B40

The program is a government initiative aimed at reducing the burden of households under the B40 group. A total of 2 million recipients have been selected from the B40 list which has been filtered to receive the Free Decoder Set. Due to the difficulty of some regions receiving analogue broadcast and DTT, some recipients have been selected to receive DTH decoders for free.

Can I apply?

Free Decoder Set recipients are chosen from filtered B40 lists as of March 2016 and not amendable.

Is the decoder transferable?

The B40 Free Decoder Set is not transferable, but you may use it at a different address and within myFreeview transmission coverage area. However, as the recipient, you are responsible for the Free Decoder Set.

WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Set-top Box (“STB”) unit is guaranteed by MYTV against defective materials and manufacturing defaults for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of purchase. The exception on warranty period of three (3) months shall apply for the Remote Control Unit (“RCU”) (collectively referred to as “Products”)

The warranty does not apply to any breakage or defect resulting from accidents, disassembly, misuse, or any unauthorized modifications or alterations.

This warranty will be null and void in the event that at any time during the warranty period, any part or parts of the Products is or are removed, altered, tampered with, adjusted, modified, dismantled, repaired or handled in any way whatsoever by any person or persons not authorized by MYTV.

The purchaser is required to present Case Reference Number and Customer Form as an original proof of purchase document when after-sales service is required.

MYTV’s liability under this warranty is limited to replacing defective STB and RCU only. MYTV shall not be in any way liable for any consequential, incidental or indirect damages whatsoever arising from or in connection with the use, inability to use or performance of the Products, including without limitation to loss of profits, loss of business or damage of other property due to the malfunction of the Products.

The warranty expressly provided herein is the sole and exclusive warranty provided in connection with the Products and no other warranties or representations, of any kind, whether oral, written, express or implied including without limitation any implied warranties of quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose are provided. In so far as any written warranties cannot be excluded, such warranties shall be limited to the terms of this warranty and for the warranty period expressed herein.

MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd (“MYTV”) complies with the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 ("PDPA") and is mindful and committed to the protection of your personal information and your privacy. In order for us to provide you with our Products and/or services and to operate in an efficient and effective manner, we may need to collect relevant personal information from you.

MYTV may disclose your personal data to its affiliates or third parties that perform services on MYTV’s behalf and in doing so we, MYTV will comply with all applicable laws, regulations and industry standards.

You hereby agree and accept that by registering and/or continuing to use the Products and/or services, you authorize and consent to your personal data being processed by and when required, disclosed to the relevant Governmental authorities where required by law or classes of third parties as identified by MYTV for the purpose of MYTV providing the Products and/or services to you.
